Back to back days

Back to back days

So much to report on! I was only able to go 2 days this week and it happened to be back to back days! Here's what went down:

Tuesday:
Strength
90 second amrap of body weight bench press
Followed by 90 seconds of rest
90 second amrap of burpees

WOD
12 minutes for as many rounds as possible of the following
5 handstand push ups
10 KB snatches (5 per arm)
15 Double unders/45 singles

How I did:
31 bench presses @ 45 lbs
14 burpees (which are stupidly hard when you can't bend your knee under you to stand up).

Getting back in the swing

Getting back in the swing

So, the holidays have led to about a week and a half off.  I went to yoga last night, as that is my typical monday night girls night activity.  Pam was there and it was good to see her.  It is good to know that I will be going to crossfit 2 times this week, then starting next monday i dont have any plans to go out of town for a while.

That was rough

That was rough

I went in a little early last night and got to watch the 5 o'clockers finish up their workout.  Looked rough... This is what we did:
3 x 30 seconds amrap of push ups.
Rest 60 seconds in between record each round
3 max sets of strict pull ups.  Rest 60 seconds in between and record each round

Sunday Funday

Sunday Funday

I made up Wednesdays workout today. Felt good to go in on a weekend.  There was only myself and 2 other crossfitters there with Derrick.
Snatch grip Dead Lift 5-5-5
I did 55 pounds for 2 sets and tried 75 for the last set.  I felt the form go with the weight so I'd keep it at 55 for a little while longer.
WOD
15 Minute AMRAP

amrap = 0!!!

amrap = 0!!!

Split Jerks
3-3-3-3-3
We put up 55lbs and I was excited to be able to try these out for the first time.  (Note to self-It works best for me to put my bad knee forward). I worked with Kelsea and Rae to do these, what helpful ladies!
2 Minute amrap of knees to elbows
Rest 1 Minute

knee's to what?!?

knee's to what?!?

This is the start of my first 3 days a week... week. I finally paid and everything! Here we go!

Overhead Squat  5-5-5
Overhead squats were the Rx  but I just worked on normal squats.  Many of the workouts are being scaled down to make sure I don't over-do the "new" knee.  The Dr. says not to go below a 1/4 of a squat. So it's half of the squat that the rest of the CF'ers are doing.  But someday I'll be right with them.

1 band + another = I still can't do pull-ups

1 band + another = I still can't do pull-ups

Well last night was interesting... I was hoping for less running and I got it.  Unfortunately it was replaced by 30 pull-ups that kicked my butt!!!

We started out with an inch warm down the mats and lunges on the way back.  During the inch worm my only wish was to be a 2-inch worm... We did that twice for the warm up along with some core rocking exercises that proved to make me feel like I have no rhythm or control over my body.  I was laughing the whole time.

The First

The First

I only get to post "The First" once when reffering to my experience with Crossfit.  I feel a little silly writing a blog here when I've only went once, and haven't actually commited to anything.  I guess I'm pretty sure that I will commit to it.

I was so nervous going in, and really, there was no reason to be.  Everyone is SO nice and encouraging.  My coworker John has been doing crossfit for a while now.  I don't even know how long, possibly the whole time I've known him. And after hearing him talk about how much he likes it, I figured I'd give it a go, possibly to shut him up (jkjk), but probably because deep inside I know I'll love it.
